Geis receives the Bavarian Quality Prize 2011
Bad Neustadt / Nuremberg, 16 March 2011. The international Geis Group has been awarded the Bavarian Quality Prize 2011. The Bavarian Minister for Economic Affairs Martin Zeil handed the award last night to Geis In-dustrie-Service GmbH. Geis won the award in the "business-oriented ser-vice provider" category for its exemplary quality standards and concepts.
The official award ceremony took place in the Munich Residenz, with the award being accepted by two of the managing directors of Geis Industrie-Service GmbH, Dr. Johannes Söllner and Ralf Lammering, and Anneliese Vogt from the company's central Quality Management Department. Within the Geis Group, Geis Industrie-Service GmbH manages a large number of contract logistics ac-tivities, such as internal logistics, distribution and spare parts centres, and in-dustrial assembly plants.
Continuous quality optimization
The committee of experts, headed by Prof. Dr. Horst Wildemann from the Technical University of Munich, decided to award the prize to Geis on account of the fact that "Quality is an integral part of day-to-day work in the company at all company levels", as Martin Zeil explained in his speech. "The systematic implementation of quality-oriented control loops has resulted in the company becoming a leading provider of customized and sophisticated logistics projects", added the Bavarian Minister for Economic Affairs.
For Geis Industrie-Service GmbH customer orientation and service quality are always key. The company consequently deploys an internally-developed pro-gramme called TeamOptimizingProcess TOP to continuously improve produc-tivity and quality. It combines the guiding principles of Kaizen, Hoshin and other management strategies, and results in a continuous and sustainable improve-ment process. "Our teams go to every length to optimize quality on an ongoing basis for our customers," says Dr. Söllner. "We are therefore delighted to be awarded the Bavarian Quality Prize. It is confirmation of our quality strategy and at the same time acts as an incentive to us to improve even further."
The Bavarian Quality Prize
The Bavarian Quality Prize has been awarded annually by the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs since 1993. It is awarded to Bavarian service providers, retailers, skilled trades and industrial companies with impressive quality concepts or innovative solutions, as well as to communities in Bavaria that have successfully implemented quality concepts.
