After high school, I began a commercial apprenticeship in shipping and logistics services at Geis. After this, I was given several opportunities to take on different duties.
I’ve been working in the control room team since late 2013. My main job is to control the material flow for warehousing, picking and outgoing goods. This also entails managing the priority of shipping orders as well as any changes.
Another important aspect of my job is to direct and coordinate my colleagues in the department. I also develop operating procedures, put them into action and monitor them. At the same time, I help to implement the TOP programme at Geis.
I really enjoy helping to make sure that each customer is satisfied.
Challenges and opportunities
Especially before public holidays, shipment volumes can increase greatly. Here it is important to keep an eye on the big picture, to remain level-headed and to support the team.
Teamwork is everything at this nerve centre of our warehouse. You have to have a listening ear for your colleagues and make sure that everyone feels appreciated.
My professional development is important to me. In this respect, Geis offers many interesting careers and areas of activity.
Team and work environment
Our team pulls together and shares responsibility. That’s why I like working at Geis. Other important points are:
- you can work independently
- good ideas are always welcome
- we have a new, modern warehouse
- occupational health and safety is a high priority
